NYC Weather: 70-Degree Highs Heading Into Rain-Free Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — Rejoice, New Yorkers — there won't be an eighth weekend washed out by rain.

Warm weather is expected to return to New York City, with highs this week steadily rising into the 70s, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.

By Saturday, the forecast calls for downright summer-like weather.

"Sunny, with a high near 76," the National Weather Service's forecast states.

The balmy conditions won't just stand in a contrast to New York City's recent spate of chilly, wet weekend weather.

The city's and Northeast's mellow conditions are a far sight from the cold and heavy snowfall expected out West, forecasters said.

"In contrast to the frigid temperatures from the Northwest into the Northern High Plains, an amplifying ridge to the east will help continue much above average highs for the central U.S. and bring warmer temperatures back to the Northeast," a National Weather Service briefing Tuesday stated. "After a chilly morning many locations dropping into the 30s for the Northeast, highs will warm into the 60s Tuesday with 70s by Wednesday."
