NYC Weather: Drenching Rain To Strike At End Of Holiday Week
Expect close to an inch of rain and unusually warm weather on Friday.
NEW YORK — Get ready for rainfall before the ball drops. Drenching showers will close out the holiday week in New York City accompanied by unusually warm temperatures, the National Weather Service forecast shows.
Rain could roll in as early as Thursday night, with close to an inch expected to hit Central Park by the end of Friday, according to the weather service.
The showers will come amid "unsettled conditions" and a warm front that will approach the tri-state region Thursday night, the weather service says.

The mercury is expected to hit a high near 57 degreees Friday, about 17 degrees above normal. Saturday will be similarly warm with a high near 52 before temperatures drop for the start of next week, the forecast shows.

Sunny, with a high near 42. Wind chill values between 30 and 40. North wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable.

Rain, mainly after 10pm. Temperature rising to around 43 by 4am. Southeast wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Friday
Rain. High near 57. South wind 9 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

A 30 percent chance of rain before 9pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 47.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 52.
