NYC Weather: Here's When Snow Will Slam The City

Get ready for a slick Friday morning commute before snow, freezing rain and sleet hit over the weekend.

NEW YORK — New York City's first serious snowfall in about two months will make for a slick Friday morning commute before more snow, sleet and freezing rain strike this weekend, the National Weather Service says.

Flakes could start falling early Thursday evening but will most likely arrive after 10 p.m., the weather service's forecast shows. They'll follow a frigid day with a high temperature near 31 degrees, according to the weather service.

The snowfall will continue overnight and into Friday morning, covering Central Park with 1.1 inches of flakes, the forecast shows. A chance of rain will follow late Friday morning, according to the weather service.
