NYC Weather: 'High Wind Warning' Issued, Up To 60 MPH Gusts Expected

NEW YORK, NY — If you're out and about this afternoon in New York City, be prepared for some intense, gusting winds. (For more weather alerts and other NYC news, click here to find your neighborhood Patch.)
The National Weather Service on Monday issued a "high wind warning" for New York City in effect through the rest of the afternoon.
Winds will whip through city streets at 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts of up to 60 miles per hour, the service said, introducing the threat of downed limbs, trees and power lines.

The warning is in effect through 6 p.m. for all five boroughs, plus parts of Long Island and the Hudson Valley.
"Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected," the warning message said. "Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage."
