NYC Weather: Storm Could Dump 4 Inches Snow On City
A storm heading toward New York City could cover the area in snow, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

NEW YORK CITY — To welcome us back from Thanksgiving, New York City has prepared a special treat: cold, snow and sleet. Lucky us.
New York could get up to 4 inches of snow during a storm predicted to slam the city from 11 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters predict that rain Monday morning will change to snow in the afternoon or evening, and they noted that the earlier the snow starts, the more likely it will be to accumulate.

Public schools will remain open Monday, but after-school programs that require school buses have been canceled, according to the New York City Department of Education.
The New York City Emergency Management Department asked city dwellers to use public transportation when possible and to drive cautiously.
The sanitation department's 705 salt spreaders have been sent across the city, and plowing will begin once 2 inches of snow have accumulated, according to city officials. Alternate Side Parking regulations were suspended for Monday.
The rest of the week should see daytime temperatures in the 40s and night temperatures in the 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain before 1 p.m., then rain and snow. Temperature falling to around 33 by 5 p.m. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. North wind 14 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.
Monday Night
Snow, mainly before midnight. Temperature rising to around 37 by 4 a.m. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. North wind 15 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible.
Tuesday
A slight chance of rain and snow before 10 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a steady temperature around 37. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Northwest wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Increasing clouds, with a low around 32. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. West wind 8 to 14 mph.

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. West wind 7 to 11 mph.
