  1. A NYCHA development in Upper Manhattan, Harlem River Houses, is set to enter private management under the city's controversial PACT plan, which allows private landlords to take over the public housing complexes in exchange for completing repairs. Some residents are concerned the transition could displace them. (New York City Patch)
  2. With tensions mounting quickly with Russia over a potential invasion of Ukraine, Governor Kathy Hochul warned New Yorkers of the potential of Russian cyberattacks, which she said could be imminent, given the city's status as a health and financial hub. The Biden administration has also voiced concerns over the potential for attacks. (Gothamist)
  3. New York City is not disclosing the rate of student's vaccination on a school-by-school basis–only citywide. Public health experts say that information is crucial for determining whether the city should lift a mask mandate on students, which it will be considering doing in March. (Chalkbeat New York)
  4. Despite winning key concessions after a hunger strike outside of City Hall last November, hundreds of New York City taxi drivers are still having their medallions repossessed over hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. According to labor organizers, that has in part to do with "bad-faith" lenders. (The City)
  5. A city-wide virtual hearing will take place on March 4th to discuss whether Mayoral control of the NYC public school system should be renewed, or if it should be turned over to the state. The hearing could also serve as an opportunity for parents to, more generally, share any grievances they may have with public schools. (AMNY)
