- A survey commissioned by the city found that a majority of New Yorkers support affordable housing as a top priority for addressing public safety. A minority of city residents, it found, believe that expanding police budgets should be the first or only step taken. The results appear to be in contradiction with some of Mayor Adams' policies. - Two corrections officers were indicted Tuesday on the charge of smuggling cellphones to detainees on Rikers Island, in the latest scandal to hit the city's jail, which is notorious for its poor conditions. According to prosecutors the officers were paid off by three women, who instructed them to give the phones to alleged members of the Bloods gang. (New York City Patch)
- Tenant attorneys say they might not be able to meet their contractual obligations to provide legal representation to all tenants facing eviction, due to a massive backlog of cases after the lifting of the state's eviction moratorium. Their claims are refuted by the city. (New York City Patch)
- The Supreme Court ruled that a man falsely arrested in 2014 can sue the NYPD, given that he wasn't ultimately convicted. Larry Thompson was handcuffed after refusing entry to officers under the impression he had abused his newborn daughter. (New York City Patch)
- Florida's governor didn't respond well to Mayor Adams' ad campaign targeting his state's controversial "don't say gay bill." At a press conference Governor DeSantis went on a rant against New York's COVID masking policies. (New York City Patch)
