NYPD Chaplain Busted For Allegedly Trying To Hire A Prostitute

NEW YORK CITY — An NYPD chaplain has been arrested for allegedly trying to hire a prostitute over the weekend, police said.

Rev. Michael Eguino, 40, was charged with patronizing prostitution on Friday, according to prosecutors.

The news was first reported by the New York Post and New York Daily News.

Eguino has served as a NYPD Catholic chaplain and parochial vicar of St. Anselm Church in the Bronx, according to reports.

The chaplain was apparently caught offering a woman money for sex.

Eguino was made an NYPD chaplain in August 2021.

Eguino maintains his innocence, according to a statement from his lawyer.

“Father Eguino, a beloved and highly respected NYPD Chaplain, is shocked and heartbroken by the false allegations,” lawyer Oliver Storch, told The Post.

“Father Eguino is presumed innocent and requests the public to withhold judgment until the conclusion of the investigation and all facts have been addressed in the appropriate forum,” the statement read.
