NYPD Officer Struck By Driver, Pinned Between Vehicles After Crash

NEW YORK CITY — An NYPD officer was struck by a car and pinned between two vehicles in Manhattan on Friday.

The incident happened at W. 13th Street and Seventh Avenue around 7 a.m., police said.

The New York Daily News and PIX11 first reported on the crash.

A 26-year-old uniformed officer was apparently walking to his vehicle when a Dodge Charger changed lanes on Seventh Avenue and hit a sanitation street sweeper, police said.

The driver of the Charger then lost control and struck the officer, pinning him between his own vehicle and the Dodge sedan.

The officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive. The 43-year-old driver remained at the scene and was also transported to a local hospital.

No charges have been filed as of Thursday afternoon.
