'No Credible Threat' To New York City After New Orleans Attack: NYPD

A spokesperson said the department has been "closely monitoring recent events" and it is working with federal and regional partners.

NEW YORK, NY — In the wake of what is being called a terror attack in New Orleans, New York Police Department officials say there is no credible threat to the city.

In a statement to Patch, a spokesperson said the department's brass has been "closely monitoring recent events in New Orleans and coordinating with federal and regional partners."

"We have not identified any specific/credible threats or any nexus to New York City at this time," the statement concluded.

A driver rammed a pickup truck into a crowd, killing 10 people in the French Quarter before being shot to death by police early on New Year's Day, authorities told The Associated Press.

More than 30 people were hurt in the attack that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is probing as an act of terrorism, the outlet reported.
