Pickpocket Snatches Nearly $5k From Man Inside NYC Station: Report

NEW YORK CITY — A pickpocket took nearly $5,000 in cash from an elderly man inside a Midtown subway station over the weekend, according to a report.

The incident happened at the 47th–50th Streets–Rockefeller Center station around 4:40 p.m. on Saturday.

The 89-year-old victim was going down the stairs at the station when an unidentified man bumped into him and swiped his wallet — containing $4,700 in cash and a debit card, the New York Post reported.

The theft was reported to police on Sunday, according to the report.

The suspect is believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s. He remains at large as of Monday evening.
