NYC Weather: Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued

The warning is in effect until 8:45 p.m. Thursday.

NEW YORK, NY – A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of New York City as torrential rain and strong winds near Thursday evening.

The National Weather Service put the warning in place for Brooklyn and Staten Island until 8:45 p.m. The rest of the city is also expected to be impacted.

The weather system was near Newark, New Jersey, at 8:25 p.m. and moving east.

The storm comes after several days of hazardous heat with temperatures in the 90s in the city.
