  1. Amazon workers in Staten Island voted to unionize on Thursday, making them the first in the nation and facing stiff opposition from a company that has historically been anti-union. The move comes at the same time that Amazon workers in Alabama and other states have attempted to form unions. (New York City Patch)
  2. New York City officials are urging caution and indoor mask wearing due to a recent uptick in cases over the past week caused largely by the more infectious COVID Omicron sub-variant known as B.A.2. They plan on distributing millions of at-home COVID tests, and will not lift a mask mandate for children under five years old. (New York City Patch)
  3. A 12-year-old boy was killed in a shooting Thursday night in East Flatbush, at the intersection of East 58th Street and Linden Boulevard. The shooting also left a 20-year-old woman injured. Mayor Adams joined police officials at the scene. (New York City Patch)
  4. One of Manhattan's first community fridges, beloved to the Harlem community, was temporarily displaced recently. It's now found a new home and continues providing food to neighbors almost two years since it first opened its doors. (New York City Patch)
  5. A man accused of strangling his Tinder Date and having sexual contact with her dead body, was extradited to New York City from California where he had fled to, according to prosecutors. He faces 25 years to lifetime in prison. (New York City Patch)
