NEW YORK CITY — An assailant shoved a straphanger onto the tracks in a Lower Manhattan subway station, police said.

A 28-year-old man was rushed to hospital after the random attack Wednesday morning in the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall subway station, NYPD officials told Patch.

The straphanger was in stable condition while the attacker remained on the loose Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The attack unfolded on the platform for the 4 and 5 lines about 10:15 a.m., police said.

The attacker, described as a man in his 20s and wearing all black, walked up to the straphanger and shoved him onto the tracks, officials said.

No trains were arriving, and the straphanger missed the rail during his fall, police said.
