Suspect Sexually Assaults Woman In NYC Subway Attack, Police Say

NEW YORK CITY — Police are searching for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 59-year-old woman inside a Lower Manhattan subway station last week, police said on Monday.

The incident happened inside the Canal Street station on March 14 around 2 a.m., police said.

The woman was walking down a stairwell in the station when the suspect approached and hit her, forcing the victim to the ground. He then sexually assaulted the 59-year-old.

The suspect fled the scene on foot after the attack, police said. He remains at large.

The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
