  1. The Brooklyn neighborhood of Bed-Stuy has seen an unparalleled ten fires over the past week and a half, displacing at least 50 neighbors. This comes at a time when fires are on New Yorker's minds more than ever given the recent tragedy in The Bronx which took 17 lives. Residents of the Bronx building are now suing their landlord.   2. A Manhattan couple is accused of forcing at least eight foster children into prostitution, according to a report by District Attorney Alvin Bragg. They now face sex trafficking and conspiracy charges. (New York City Patch)
  3. Workers at three Starbucks locations in New York City, and one on Long Island, announced their intent to unionize on Thursday, bringing the total number of locations nationwide to make the move to 72 across 21 states. One of the NYC stores, located in the Meatpacking District, is the largest on the East Coast. (New York City Patch)
  4. A coalition of SoHo and NoHo residents filed a lawsuit Thursday against the SoHo/NoHo neighborhood rezoning, which would increase the neighborhood's density and allow for the construction of new residential and commercial buildings. The lawsuit is the latest development in the hotly-contested rezoning. (New York City Patch)
  5. Today is the deadline to change your political party registration online for voting in New York's June 28th primary. Those who wish to change their affiliation by mail have until Valentine's Day, February 14th. (Gothamist)
