Video Shows Cops Gun Down Suspected Killer On East Village Street

The man was suspected of killing another man on Avenue A.

EAST VILLAGE, NY – Dramatic body camera footage that shows cops gunning down a man on an East Village street has been released by the NYPD.

The video shows two officers leap out of their car and run towards a man telling him to "get down on the ground."

The man, who was walking away from them on Avenue A at East 7th Street, then outstretched his arm towards the officers when both fired their weapons, the NYPD said.

The video shows the man, later identified as Earl Facey, 37, lying crumpled in the street. He was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.

The shooting happened after police witnessed the man shoot another man dead outside the Hayaty Hookah Lounge at 103 Avenue A during the early morning of January 9.

The officers heard the shots, according to police commissioner Terene Monahan, and sped to the scene. They fired three shots after the man failed to follow their orders to get on the ground, he said

Police found two .22-caliber handguns, one underneath the man officers shot and another near the second man.
