All the dates you need to know for the 2016-17 school year in New York City.

NEW YORK, NY — Below is the New York City school system's calendar for the 2015-16 school year.

This calendar applies to NYC public-school students from kindergarten to 12th grade, in every district except the 75th District for special education.

Sept. 8 First day of school (early dismissal for kindergarteners; partial school time for pre-K)

Sept. 9 First full day of school for kindergarteners (partial school time for pre-K)

Sept. 12 Eid al-Adha (schools closed)

Oct. 3 - Oct. 4 Rosh Hashanah (schools closed)

Oct. 10 Columbus Day (schools closed)

Oct. 12 Wednesday Yom Kippur (schools closed)

Nov. 8 Election Day (students stay home)

Nov. 11 Veterans Day (schools closed)

Nov. 24 - Nov. 25 Thanksgiving (schools closed)

Dec. 26 - Jan. 2 Winter Break (schools closed)

Jan. 16 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (schools closed)

Jan. 30 Chancellor’s Conference Day (high schoolers stay home; all other students come to school)

Feb. 20 - Feb. 24 Midwinter Break, including Washington’s birthday and Lincoln’s
birthday (schools closed)

April 10 - April 18 Spring Break, including Passover and Good Friday (schools
closed)

May 29 Memorial Day (schools closed)

June 8 Anniversary Day (students stay home)

June 12 Clerical Day (all students except high schoolers stay home)

June 23 Regents Rating Day (high schoolers stay home; all other students come to school)

June 26 Eid al-Fitr (schools closed)

June 28 Last day of school (early dismissal)
