You Can Now Put UberPool on Your Commuter Benefits

You can now use your pre-tax dollars toward UberPool rides thanks to a new deal between Uber and WageWorks, a consumer benefits provider.

Uber is letting New Yorkers pay for ride-shares through the commuter benefits offered by their employers, resulting in up to 40 percent savings on rides. It's the first time Uber has established a partnership with a consumer benefits provider for pre-tax benefits.

"This partnership will make our riders’ commutes easier by allowing them to use pre-tax benefits to pay for their UberPool commute. This furthers our goal of getting more people in fewer cars, while making New Yorkers' daily commute more affordable and more efficient," said Josh Mohrer, general manager of Uber New York, in a press release.

On weekdays, UberPool rides that begin and end in Manhattan below 125th Street are exactly $5 during the rush hour time slots of 7-10 a.m. and 5-8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
