Up To 1 Inch Rain Possible: Hudson Valley Weekend Weather

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Get the rain gear ready for part of the weekend in the Hudson Valley.

A storm will make its way northeastward, traveling along the coast for the most part during the weekend, according to AccuWeather meteorologist Dean DeVore.

While the storm will draw moisture from the ocean, it may not bring rain too far inland.

“However, some locations in central and eastern New England could receive a much-needed thorough soaking with an inch of rain possible, DeVore said.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a slight chance of showers after 5 a.m. Saturday which will increase over the day.

Rain is forecast to exit the Hudson Valley in the early morning hours of Sunday, so the entire weekend is likely to not be a total washout.

High temperatures will go from around the mid-60s on Saturday to the low to mid-70s on Sunday.

Here is the forecast from the National Weather Service for Yorktown through the weekend:

• Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 68. South wind around 9 mph.
• Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers after 3am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 51. South wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light southeast after midnight.
• Saturday: Showers, mainly after 9am. High near 66. East wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
• Saturday Night: Showers, mainly before 9pm. Low around 52. South wind around 5 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
• Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers before 9am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. West wind 8 to 11 mph.
• Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52.
• Monday: Sunny, with a high near 73.
