Blessing Of Creche, Lighting Of Menorah Set For Monday In New City

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — Rockland County officials will hold the annual Blessing of the Nativity Creche and Lighting of the Menorah outside the Allison-Parris County Office Building on Monday.

The Rockland County Catholic Coalition organizes the blessing, which has been taking place for over two decades. Chabad of Rockland has become a sponsor of the event, including Chanukah refreshments and music.

"It is always important that we gather, regardless of religion, to celebrate the holiday season," County Executive Ed Day said in the announcement. "There is plenty of room in Rockland to accommodate every religion, culture, and ethnicity; all of us are enriched by exposure to cultures and beliefs other than our own. We are all unique and can benefit from learning from each other and listening to each other."
