The driver of the Jeep told police she saw the BMW approaching at high speed in the rearview mirror.
The BMW then entered the visitor center on-ramp to try to pass the Jeep, before re-entering the travel lane and striking the front driver's side of the Jeep, investigators said. This caused the BMW driver to lose control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the western side of the roadway at high speed and strike several trees, according to accident investigators.
