
The delicious fried sugary glory that is the donut is surely something to celebrate. So much so that the delicious baked treat even has its very own holiday!
This year National Donut Day is on Friday, June 7 and donut giant Dunkin’ Donuts is offering customers a free donut with a purchase of any beverage at a location near you.
“Perhaps more than any other treat, donuts bring smiles to people’s faces and make any moment in a busy day much sweeter,” said John Costello, president of global marketing and innovation at Dunkin’ Donuts.

Customers can select a donut of their choosing (while supplies last) on National Donut Day, including Dunkin’s new summer inspired fruit donuts: Lemonade and Key Lime.
Dunkin’ Donuts—which boasts itself as “America’s all-day everyday stop for coffee, donuts and baked goods” and serves 2.4 billions donuts and donut holes annually—is also celebrating National Donut Day in 31 countries around the world.
National Donut Day was originally started in 1938 by the Salvation Army and celebrated on the first Friday of June to honor women who served donuts to soliders in World War I.
