According to state health officials, Orange had 65 new positive test results Thursday, compared to just 18 new cases Sept. 3.

There were 460 active cases in Rockland Thursday, up from 272 Sept. 16. The two hardest hit communities, Monsey and Spring Valley, doubled their active cases.

The Rockland County Department of Health is working with local leaders to educate and inform residents of the need to keep following pandemic protocols, said spokesman John Lyon. "We are also working with the local school districts to ensure this message is delivered loud and clear to the children of Rockland."

Lyon said Rockland's health officials also continue to ask that everyone cooperate with the contact tracing program.

"Please answer the phone and answer our questions so we can contact others who may have been exposed and advise them to take protective action. Your cooperation will help protect our entire community," he said.
