East Ramapo Central School District Launches Superintendent Search
Board of Education Members Seek Public Input on Next School Leader

The East Ramapo Board of Education has begun a search for a new Superintendent of Schools to replace Superintendent Dr. Clarence Ellis. It is anticipated that the new Superintendent will begin work in the district on or about July 1, 2024.
To assist the Board in seeking and processing candidates for the position, the Board has engaged School Leadership, LLC, of Malverne, New York, a professional recruiting service. Dr. LaRuth Gray, Dr. Roy Montesano and Dr. Charles Fowler, members of the firm, will work with East Ramapo Board members on the search.
To begin the search process, the Board is seeking input from staff, parents, students and other community members on the desired background and leadership qualities which the Board should seek in candidates for the position. To accomplish this, an online survey has been created, available to anyone in the district, which lists the current specifications for the position and asks survey respondents to rate the importance of each specification. Stakeholders are also given the opportunity to provide any other important qualities they think the Board should seek, as well as any other comments or recommendations they would like to make to the Board of Education about its search. Information on the superintendent search and links to the online surveys (English, Spanish, Hattian Creole and Yiddish) can be accessed at ercsd.org/search2324. The deadline for survey responses is December 1, 2023.

- 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- 6:00 p.m. to 7:25 p.m. (immediately prior to the regular Board meeting)
It is anticipated that the position advertising will begin in January 2024, with the Board announcing a new Superintendent no later than May 7, 2024.
