CLARKSTOWN, NY — High, gusty winds Monday afternoon knocked down a tree that fell into an O&R electric utility pole on Strawtown Road in Clarkstown.

The incident closed Strawtown Road for more than 2 hours, according to Clarkstown police on Facebook.

O&R dispatched a repair crew to the location at about 2 p.m., a company spokesman said. They found the crossarms on the pole had been damaged by the tree. They replaced the crossarms and re-energized the two circuits involved at about 4 p.m.
