He Thought He Was Going Home With The Woman He Met In A Bar, Instead He Was Robbed, Left On Palisades: Cops

The victim thought that a car outside the bar was a rideshare vehicle that had come to pick them up, but it was her accomplices, police say.

NEW CITY, NY — At around last call, he thought he was having a good night, but by morning, he had regrets.

New York State Police say that on Saturday, around 1:30 a.m., troopers from Haverstraw responded to the Palisades Interstate Parkway northbound, at Exit 10 in New City, after receiving a report of an armed robbery.

Troopers say a 21-year-old man reported leaving a bar located on Main Street, in Nyack, with a woman, later identified as 22-year-old Jordyn M. Casserly, of Monroe, he had met inside. The man told police that she convinced him that they would be going to her home, and that a car outside the bar was a rideshare vehicle that had come to pick them up.

But, once he was inside the vehicle with Casserly, the man saw two unknown men, later identified as 25-year-old Jason Butler, of Wurtsboro, and 38-year-old Kyle J. Youngberg, of Middletown.

The victim was robbed at gunpoint and left alongside the Palisades Parkway, as the suspects drove away.

After a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) was issued to local patrols, the suspects were soon found on Derby Road, in Wallkill. Troopers conducted a high-risk traffic stop, and all three suspects were taken into custody.

Casserly, Butler and Youngberg were all charged in Rockland County with felony first-degree robbery (forcible theft while armed with a deadly weapon), and felony fourth-degree conspiracy (conspire to commit a class B or C felony). Youngberg was also charged with misdemeanor second-degree menacing (weapon).

After the traffic stop, all three were charged with misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Wallkill Court.

On Sunday, all three suspects were arraigned in the Town of Clarkstown Court and were remanded to the Rockland County Jail on bail. An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
