Massive Canada To U.S. Power Transmission Project To Affect Traffic Along The Hudson
The CHPE project's construction of a 339-mile transmission line, mostly underground & underwater, will deliver hydro-electric power to NYC.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — An international power transmission project might affect Hudson Valley motorists in the coming months.
On Friday, roadwork is scheduled to resume along Route 9W, from Congers to Stony Point, as part of New York State's Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) project. The CHPE project involves the construction of a transmission line spanning 339 miles, mostly running underground and underwater, to deliver hydroelectric power from Quebec to New York City.

Some work will take place during the daytime; however, in an effort to minimize traffic disruptions, most of the work will be done at night from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday through Friday.
