Pedestrian Hit By Freight Train Airlifted To Westchester Medical Center

State police say on Sunday evening, troopers in Rockland County responded to the scene when CSX reported the collision.

STONY POINT, NY — A young man's life will never be the same after a tragedy on the tracks in Rockland County.

New York State Police say that on Sunday, around 5:40 p.m., troopers from the Haverstraw barracks responded to the Tomkins Cove area, in the town of Stony Point, after receiving a report of a pedestrian struck by a train.

An initial investigation found that a 21-year-old man was on the railroad tracks prior to the passing of a CSX freight train, and was then struck by the train, according to state police.

The train came to a stop, and emergency services were immediately contacted.

State police say the victim sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, where he is currently listed as being in stable condition.
