Pet of the Week: Violet

Look at that nose!

Violet is a timid and affectionate sweetheart with a calm yet commanding presence. She is a large full-figured gal with a round face and big green eyes that will melt your heart. She has been in a loving foster home for nine months, proving what a great house cat she can be! Violet was very scared in the shelter environment and it took many months for her to relax and start rebuilding her confidence and trust. Now her foster parents are so proud of her--she's come so far and is ready for her forever home.

We estimate Violet is about 6 years old. She has a mature laid-back energy and is very low-maintenance, and loves to spend all day napping in her favorite spots, which include her cat tree by the window, a sunny chair, and the bed. Violet loves getting lots of pets and affection, and she’s quick to purr and make biscuits. She isn't clingy but she loves to be where you are, watch TV on the couch with you, or nap with you in bed. Violet is not a big fan of being picked up or held, or having her paws touched. She hasn’t yet decided if she’s a lap cat, but we think with a little more time and trust she might get there, as she has started nestling right beside her foster parents.

Violet is spayed, vaccinated, FIV/FeLV negative, and has had a recent check-up with blood work and gotten a clean bill of health.

Violet’s must-haves are a laid-back home, gentle humans (she might be very slow to warm up) and a predictable environment where she can continue to trust and relax. She might prefer to be an only cat, but could learn to live with another cat or dog who respects her space. Violet has a sensitive nose, so would be happiest in a non-smoking home.
