Bringing the Service to the Clients: New City Business Spotlight

Meet the Reinas of Music To Your Home.

Every local business has a story worth sharing with the community. The plan behind this series at Patch is to shine the spotlight on all our favorite local businesses, and to learn a little about the ones we may not know that well.

This is as much about supporting local businesses as it is about celebrating the places and faces that make our community special. Click here to get to a simple form where local business owners can answer a few quick questions to be part of this ongoing feature.

Address: PO Box 38 Tappan, NY

How did you come up with the name?
The name exemplifies what we do perfectly - private music lessons right to your home.

Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?
We service several areas of Rockland County, including New City. Our office is located in Tappan, as that is where we’ve lived since 2004. Vincent grew up in Congers and Tracy is from New City.

Briefly, what business are you in?
We provide high quality music lessons in all instruments and voice right to student’s homes.

What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?
Trying to devote enough time to growing our business while also raising our 7 year old twin boys.

Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?
Never! We love what we do. We are both musicians, Tracy is a singer and Vincent is a pianist who has been teaching music in New City for nearly 20 years. Providing this service has been a privilege. Knowing that kids are discovering the joy of music is a great feeling for us.

What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?
We hold an annual recital and hearing how our students have progressed is truly inspiring. Those are our favorite moments and we’re lucky - we get them every year!

What’s the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?
Accepting credit cards!

How do you deal with difficult customers?
We value our clients’ feedback and we are always available to discuss any of their concerns. It’s what we tell them when we begin our working relationship. Music to Your Home is a service industry and anytime our customers need something, we are here for them, 24/7.

How does your business give back or get involved in the community?
Our students have participated in the annual Music Marathon to benefit Helping Hands and United Hospice of Rockland. We are members of the Rockland County Music Teachers Guild. We’ve donated dozens of free lessons to community charities and school auctions. Also for the past three years we’ve sponsored a team for the Palisades Sparkill Baseball League.
