75-Year-Old Nassau Man Tried To Murder Woman: Police

Police say officers were called to the home for a domestic incident, and found the 73-year-old woman who had been brutally assaulted.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A New Hyde Park man was arrested and charged with attempted murder following a domestic incident on Tuesday, Nassau County Police said.

Nassau County police were called to a home in New Hyde Park at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, police say the officers found a 73-year-old woman lying on the floor of the home in pain.

Police say 75-year-old Glen Davis pushed the woman down the stairs, leaving her with multiple injuries. He followed her down the stairs and struck her multiple times with a candleholder, police said, then tried to strangle her. The woman fought him off and called police.

She was taken to a hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Davis was also taken to a hospital. He faces charges of second-degree attempted murder and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
