North Hempstead Will Use $9M For Infrastructure Projects: Roads, Parks
The money will go toward renovating sidewalks, a 100-year-old road, a park, a little league field, and adding homes and businesses to sewer.

NORTH HEMPSTEAD, NY — Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena announced on Wednesday that the town will allocate $9 million dollars of federal money to new infrastructure improvements.
At a news conference on Westbury Ave. in Carle Place, DeSena, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and other county officials outlined the projects:
- Renovating Sunset Park in Port Washington
- Adding businesses on Plandome Road to the public sewer system in Manhasset
- Restoring sidewalks on Westbury Avenue
- Completing construction at Fuschillo Park in Carle Place
- Rehabilitating a little league field in Carle Place
The town received $10 million in federal stimulus money in 2021, but only $1 million has been used so far, DeSena's office said.
