Police Identify Nassau Man Who Died After Being Struck By School Bus

The crash took place on September 24, police said.

FLORAL PARK, NY — Police have identified the man who died after being struck by a school bus in Floral Park on September 24 as Guy Cerina, 63, of Floral Park.

According to Nassau County police, the crash took place at 7:45 a.m. on Plainfield Avenue in the vicinity of Magnolia Avenue. No children were on the bus at the time of the crash, police said.

Cerina was struck by a 2018 Chevy school bus while crossing Plainfield Avenue, from west to east, police said. The driver of the school bus, a 69-year-old woman, remained at the scene, police said.

Cerina suffered body trauma and was transported to a local hospital in a NYU Langone ambulance for treatment; he was later pronounced deceased by a hospital physician, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
