Some LI State Parks Closed Wednesday After Tropical Storm

Before you head out: Some Long Island state parks remained closed Wednesday.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Before you head out for a day at the beach or park Wednesday, be advised that some Long Island state parks were closed amid the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaias.

According to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, some Long Island state parks remained closed Wednesday morning; all were closed on Tuesday. Residents can check the state's website for information on when beaches and parks are set to reopen.

A post by News 12 meteorologist Rich Hoffman early Wednesday said there was currently no power at Jones Beach and Robert Moses state parks; both were to remain closed to the public until further notice.

Orient Beach State Park was open and swimming was allowed, according to Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell.
