LONG ISLAND, NY — Motorists are advised to be careful of black ice Monday morning across Long Island.

With temperatures dropping Sunday night to the teens and below, slick roads turned icy, leading to delayed openings at many schools across Long Island.

Any moisture or slush on untreated surfaces was quickly expected to refreeze after sundown, the National Weather Service said.
