Crimes Nearby in Riverhead, Miller Place and the Hamptons
The following information was supplied by various town police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.
Riverhead:
An alleged prostitute and her john were arrested in Northampton Wednesday evening after police said they spotted the couple together in Flanders.
Ismael Mercado, 45, of Center Moriches with Kimberly Torres, 45, of Southampton were pulled over on suspicion of DWI at the corner of Old Westhampton Road and Lakeview Drive in Northampton at around 11 p.m. Aug. 31, according to police reports.

After pulling the pair over, police said they discovered Torres had drugs on her. She was charged with prostitution and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors.
Torres was charged with third-degree criminal patronizing a prostitute and DWI, both misdemeanors.

Candice Whaley, 28, of North Babylon was arrested Monday at the intersection of County Road 104 and the traffic circle in Riverside and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Whaley was in a car accident when they discovered she was intoxicated.
A stolen kiss in a car on Flanders Road turned into a fight on Sept. 1, according to Southampton Town Police.
A 45-year-old man from East Yaphank told Southampton Town Police that his girlfriend was sitting on his lap kissing him Saturday at around 3:30 p.m. on what appeared to be a small drive leading off Flanders Road when a nearby homeowner drove toward him and blocked him from leaving the drive. The small road turned out to be the homeowner’s private driveway, according to police reports.
The homeowner allegedly hit the East Yaphank man’s Ford Ranger twice with his GMC van, eventually forcing him into a ditch. Police said the GMC van blocked the couple from leaving.
The woman with the East Yaphank man and another Flanders woman pushed, slapped and spit at each other, too, according to police records.
Miller Place-Rocky Point:
John Edgar, II, 33, of Shirley was arrested Aug. 29 in Sound Beach and charged with second degree unlawful imprisonment. Reports indicate Edgar was arrested for the alleged refusal to let another male exit his vehicle. Reports indicate Edgar allegedly threatened the male with physical harm if he didn’t comply.
Richard Kijowski, 51, of Farmingville was arrested Aug. 27 in Miller Place and charged with criminal mischief. Reports indicate Kijowski was arrested for the alleged theft of lawn furniture at approximately 2 a.m. It was unclear if the furniture was stolen from a business or a residency.
Gregory Harvey, 55, of Hempstead was arrested Aug. 27 in Rocky Point and charged with fourth degree grand larceny. Reports indicate Harvey was arrested for the alleged theft of assorted merchandise from Waldbaums.
Southampton:
Michael N. Lacy, 20, of Southampton was involved in a disturbance at 230 Elm in Southampton in the predawn hours of Saturday, according to Southampton Village Police. He was arrested at 3:50 a.m. and charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, a violation; riot in the second degree, resisting arrest, criminal mischief in the fourth degree and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, all misdemeanors. He was held for arraignment.
East Hampton:
on Springs-Fireplace Road, near Abraham's Path, in East Hampton on Aug. 20, had been speeding and driving with a suspended license, according to .
Police said Diego Ordonez, 27, of East Hampton, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, on Sunday morning after numerous attempts to contact him.
Westhampton Beach - Hampton Bays:
David Link, 31, of Hampton Bays was arrested Tuesday at 12:45 a.m. on the corner of Montauk Highway East and Canoe Place Road in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said they stopped Link when they saw that he had not used his turn signal and then discovered he was intoxicated.
Milos Stojanovic, 22, of Astoria was arrested Monday at 9:08 p.m. at the corner of Good Ground and Springville roads in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Stojanovic was stopped for not using his blinker, police said.
Michael Durnin, 22, of Brooklyn was arrested Monday at 8:39 p.m. at the corner of Old Country Road and Summit Boulevard in Westhampton and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Durnin was stopped for driving out of lane when they discovered he was intoxicated.
Matthew Guzowski, 20, of East Meadow was arrested by Quogue Village Police Saturday at 2:05 a.m. on Montauk Highway in Quogue and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony, driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police stopped Guzowski because he illegally passed another car, and then discovered he had a fraudulent Rhode Island’s driver’s license.
