Student members of the Greenport Elementary School Art League and students in the Portfolio Class a new pilot program initiated for the first time this year, were invited to paint holiday scenes on the windows of participating businesses in Greenport Village. Just in time for the Greenport Village Holiday parade and the tree lighting ceremony, Blue Duck Bakery, Front Street Station and the Arcade were adorned with the creative skills of Greenport students in grades 4, 5 and 6. This was a collaborative effort between Greenport Elementary Art and STEAM teacher Mr. Brady Wilkins and community liaison Ms. Penny Rudder. This was the first of many holiday seasons to come where students will be adding splashes of color to their community as many business owners have shown interest in supporting this community building project.
