Heavy Winds Leave Hundreds Without Power Across Long Island
A wind advisory remains in effect until Monday night, with gusts of up to 50 miles an hour expected, the National Weather Service says.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Heavy winds left hundreds without power across Long Island Sunday night.
According to Elizabeth Flagler, media representative for PSEG Long Island, as of 8 p.m., 854 of 1.2 million customers on Long Island were left without power by the high winds. At 9:23 p.m., that number stood at 961 customers.
"Strong wind gusts affecting the area have the potential to bring down branches on wires and cause scattered outages. PSEG Long Island has personnel ready to respond safely and as quickly as possible," Flagler said.

According to the National Weather Service, a wind advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Monday, with west wind of 20 to 30 miles per hour and gusts of up to 50 miles per hour expected.
