High Wind Advisory In Effect For Long Island On New Year's Day: NWS
Isolated gusts of up to 55 miles an hour could make driving difficult, the National Weather Service says.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A wind advisory is in effect for Long Island on New Year's Day, from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m., the National Weather Service said.
West winds of 15 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour, are expected, the NWS said. Isolated gusts of up to 55 miles per hour are possible late Wednesday afternoon through the evening and again during the day on Thursday, the NWS added.
The NWS warned that gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result, the NWS said.

"Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects," the NWS said.
