LONG ISLAND, NY — Mother Nature appears ready to send a burst of sparkling weather to Long Island for the July 4 weekend.

According to David Stark, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Upton, July 4 will bring "beautiful" weather, with temperatures in the lower 80s and no humidity, as well as mostly clear skies, with no precipitation expected.

Temperatures will be warmer on both Saturday, in the mid-80s, with a slight uptick in humidity; Sunday will bring temps in the mid-to-upper 80s, with an increase in humidity. Skies will remain dry throughout the weekend, with rain expected next Monday.

But before the weekend's glorious beach and barbecue weather, there are still some soggy skies expected: There's some rain in the forecast for Tuesday, Stark said. The potential for thunderstorms exists from about 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; that rain could last until early morning, he said.
