ICYMI: LI Snow Update: How Much, What Time, Highest Accumulations
Mother Nature is bringing a blast of winter to Long Island Sunday. Here's what to expect.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Got your snow shovels ready: Sunday is slated to bring a blast of winter across Long Island, according to the National Weather Service.
According to David Stark, meteorologist with the NWS Office in Upton, after a dry morning, rain mixed with snow will kick off Sunday's weather event, followed by about 2 inches of snow on the East End beginning at about 4 p.m. — and up to 5 inches of snow accumulation possible in northwest Nassau County and potentially northwest Suffolk County, as well.
The snow should last until about midnight Sunday night, Stark said.

Temperatures Sunday are expected to hover in the mid-30s then drop to below freezing late Sunday afternoon, with highs in the 20s. Monday morning, those temperatures could drop into the upper teens, with no temperatures above freezing expected until Friday, Stark said.
"The coldest air we've seen this winter is upon us, beginning Sunday afternoon," he said.
