Dominic Ramunni, meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Upton, said the "next round of wintry weather" should impact Long Island during the first half of the weekend.
On Saturday, snow will develop west to east across Long Island, beginning at around 2 p.m., with close to an inch expected to accumulate before the snow transitions to a "sloppy" rain and possible sleet around 7 p.m.

On Monday, the temperatures are expected to drop again to the mid-30s, with blustery wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour making it feel closer to the 20s, he said. The temperature drop "will remind folks after Sunday that it's still winter," Rammuni said.
