North Fork Chocolate & Eatery Adds Vegetarian Menu, Spices
The owner of the popular chocolate business has begun offering fresh spices, coffee and tea, as well as a vegetarian menu.

NORTH FORK, NY — A popular North Fork chocolatier has added something spicy to the menu.
North Fork Chocolate Company & Eatery chef and owner Steven Amaral has launched a new business within his shops, selling spices, coffee, tea and vegetarian fare.
North Fork Chocolate owners Amaral and Ann Corley closed their Aquebogue location last year and expanded into two new spaces, in Mattituck, at 8700 Main Road, and in Riverhead, at 309 East Main Street.

This year, "Chef Steve" introduced a new component in the shops, "Fresh Greens & Spice LI," which offers the freshest spices direct from Sri Lanka, plus, coffee and Ceylon tea.
"People love being able to get spices so fresh right here," he said.

To that end, Amaral has renamed his "North Fork Chocolate Company" business "North Fork Chocolate & Eatery." His popular shop and restaurant on Riverhead’s Main Street is the only full-service vegetarian restaurant on the East End, he said.
The eatery has expanded its vegan and gluten-free offerings recently: New dishes include: Mango BBQ Grilled Tofu Bowl; Portobello Mushroom BLT; Almost Beef & Mushroom Stew; and Red Lentil & Chickpea Soup.
The new menu launched right after Valentine's Day.
Amaral said North Fork Chocolate has long provided more than the original chocolate choices. Some of the shop's stone-grown chocolate, as well as desserts, are sold wholesale to customers across the East End including Sant Ambroeus and 75 Main, both in Southampton, and the Milk Pail Fresh Market in Water Mill.
In addition, original photographs by Barbara Lassen are currently on view at the North Fork Chocolate’s Riverhead location, alongside Amaral's own paintings. North Fork Chocolate’s Mattituck store devotes a room to a host of local artists and artisans.
