North Fork Farmstand Thief Nabbed: Police

NORTH FORK, NY — A Riverhead man was nabbed stealing from the cash box of a Cutchogue farmstand recently, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the man, 64, was arrested after two incidents when he tried to steal money from the stand on two separate dates and damaged the cash box. He removed a $5 bill from the cash box during the first incident and left without proceeds in the second, police said.

He was found on October 6 and charged with two counts of criminal mischief, one count of petty larceny and one count of attempted petty larceny, police said. He was processed and released on an appearance ticket to appear in Southold Justice Court at a later date, police said.
