Oysterponds Budget Vote Passes Handily

NORTH FORK, NY — The community turned out to support the Oysterponds Union Free School District budget Tuesday, passing the 2025 to 2026 budget by a vote of 100 to 22.

The district's $5,841,258 budget represents a 3.65 percent spending increase and a tax levy increase of 3.5 percent, which falls under the tax cap.

Voters were also asked to weigh in on propositions: They approved a measure for a repair reserve fund by a vote of 101 to 2, and a proposition to establish a $5 million capital reserve fund for technology updates, renovations, building improvements and more, by a vote of 97 to 21.

BOE candidates Thomas Stevenson, Miriam Foster, and Erin Stanton ran unopposed. Stevenson received 106 votes, Foster, 105 votes and Stanton, 100 votes.
