GREENPORT, NY — Peconic Landing announced recently that The Bluffs for Short-Term Rehabilitation and The Shores for Skilled Nursing have each been recognized among the best nursing homes for 2026 by U.S. News & World Report, earning the publication’s highest rating of "High Performing" in their respective categories.

The dual distinction places Peconic Landing among a select group of skilled nursing providers nationwide recognized for exemplary care across both short-term and long-term services, officials said.

For 2026, U.S. News evaluated more than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide using data primarily obtained from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The methodology includes analysis of care quality, safety, infection rates, staffing levels, health inspections, and resident outcomes. New measures added this year include weekend staffing and infection rates that lead to hospitalization, both of which offer additional insight into a provider’s ability to deliver consistent, high-quality care.

"We are incredibly proud to have both The Bluffs and The Shores recognized at the highest level," said Robert Syron, president and CEO of Peconic Landing. "This achievement speaks to the remarkable dedication of our team members, who show unwavering commitment to compassionate, person-centered care. Their professionalism and heart continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve."

Compared to state and national averages, Peconic Landing demonstrated significantly stronger staffing levels, including higher total nurse staffing, higher direct patient-care staffing, and substantially higher registered nurse coverage. Weekend staffing also exceeded both state and national norms, reflecting consistent, around-the-clock support for residents, Peconic Landing said.

Peconic Landing also performed better than state and national averages across several key quality and safety indicators, officials said. The community experienced fewer major falls and lower infection- related hospitalizations among short-term rehabilitation residents. Peconic Landing additionally saw a higher percentage of residents returning home after short-term rehabilitation and lower hospitalization rates for long-term care. The outcomes reflect a consistently high standard of care across both The Bluffs and The Shore, Peconic Landing said.

"Choosing the right nursing home based on care needs and comfort is a critical decision for prospective residents and their families," said Zach Adams, health data engineer at U.S. News. "The Best Nursing Homes ratings highlight nursing homes that excel in short-term rehabilitation and long-term care needs."

Gregory Garrett, chief operating officer and administrator of health services at Peconic Landing, added: "I am deeply proud of the dedicated team members in both The Bluffs and The Shores. Their expertise and compassion are the foundation of these achievements. To earn High Performing ratings in both categories is a testament to their exemplary work and to Peconic Landing’s mission of providing exceptional care across the continuum."
