Peconic Landing’s COO, Administrator Garners Nationwide Award
""As we celebrate Greg's achievement, we are reminded that true leadership in healthcare is not just about managing services."

GREENPORT, NY — A familiar face on the Peconic Landing canvas has just garnered nationwide recognition for his dedication.
The American College of Health Care Administrators honored Greg Garrett, Peconic Landing’s chief operating officer and administrator, with the 2024 Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award.
Only 2 percent of facilities nationwide met the initial selection criteria, Peconic Landing said. This year, 39 administrators in 18 states met all eligibility requirements and were awarded the facility leadership award nationally.

The leadership award was celebrated at ACHCA’s 57th Annual Convocation and Exposition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Tuesday, May 7, Peconic Landing said.
Garrett, a licensed nursing home administrator and certified aging services professional, has served the life plan community Peconic Landing since 2006. In his role as chief operating officer and administrator, he oversees the community’s skilled nursing and assisted living neighborhoods. With 20 years of experience in administration, Garrett has led the team in achieving a consistent five-star Medicare rating, Peconic Landing said.

The award recognizes the current administrator of record for the full year reported for the Oct. 2023 Care Compare Refresh — April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023.. Eligibility for the award is based on three years of skilled nursing facility survey data, including the health, fire safety, and complaint surveys and top quartile performance on designated quality measures, Peconic Landing said.
According to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the skilled nursing neighborhood at Peconic Landing "experiences fewer hospitalizations, fewer outpatient emergency department visits, fewer falls with major injury, and fewer residents with symptoms of depression compared to state and national averages."
“Skilled nursing centers across our country are at the forefront of providing care. Despite ongoing challenges, regulatory burdens, and limited resources, these exceptional leaders and their teams have shown that they can achieve outstanding results,” Robert Lane, ACHCA’s president and CEO, said.
The Facility Leadership Award was introduced in 2008 by one of ACHCA’s most revered leaders, the late Eli Pick. A former executive director of the Ballard Rehabilitation Center in Des Plaines, Illinois for over 30 years, Pick embodied excellence as an Administrator who cared for his residents, their families, and his community, Peconic Landing said.
"As we celebrate Greg’s achievement, we are reminded that true leadership in healthcare is not just about managing services; it’s about fostering a culture of excellence, compassion, and innovation," said Peconic Landing’s President and CEO Robert J. Syron. “Greg’s unwavering dedication to our members and his commitment to quality care exemplify the values that Peconic Landing stands for. We are incredibly proud of Greg’s well-deserved recognition and grateful for his continued leadership.”
A dedicated advocate for older adults statewide, Garrett also serves on LeadingAge New York’s Services Board and is a past recipient of the Thomas Clarke Young Administrator of the Year. Garrett holds a master’s degree in health service administration, a bachelor's degree in economics, and is a member of the American College of Health Care Administrators, the premier association for leaders in post-acute and aging services.
This is Garrett’s eighth time receiving the Eli Pick recognition since 2013.
