LONG ISLAND, NY — As a powerful nor-easter pummels Long Island Monday morning, residents are waking up to find downed trees, heavy rain, damaging winds and coastal flooding — and more than 4,400 left without power.

According to PSEG Long Island, as of Monday morning at about 6 a.m., there were 4,069 without power across Long Island; crews are working to restore service. If your power is out, text OUT to PSEGLI (773454).

"The system has held up well amid heavy rain and winds approaching 55 mph across the service area. The storm has downed some trees, branches and wires across the service territory, currently affecting 4,069 of 1.2 million electric customers across Long Island and the Rockaways," a media representative for PSEGLI said. "We expect the majority of the customers impacted during the overnight to be restored today. We will continue to experience additional outages as the winds continue.
