Riverhead High School Senior Named to NYSSMA All-State Symphonic Band
Alto Saxophonist Christian Seymour Selected Following Perfect NYSSMA Scores

RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK—Riverhead High School senior Christian Seymour was selected to play alto saxophone in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Symphonic Band. Christian was selected from a highly competitive field due to his remarkable success at the NYSSMA evaluations earlier this year. Christian performed an alto saxophone solo and a baritone saxophone solo, receiving a perfect score of 100 for both.
"Christian is a driven musician with a mature sense of artistry with his instrument,” said Riverhead High School band director Joseph Randazzo. “I first met Christian as a sixth grader, and since then, he has continually demonstrated a high level of preparation and devotion to his musical activities, which has been inspiring to watch. I am thrilled for him to have this experience to perform with other like-minded musicians from across the state.”
In the 2024-2025 school year, Christian was selected as a member of the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education All-County Band and an alternate for the NYSSMA All-State Band. He is working diligently to prepare for the upcoming 89th Annual NYSSMA Winter Conference at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center in Rochester, New York. From December 4th to 7th, Christian will rehearse and perform at the conference with the top high school musicians in all of New York State.
